Introducing Ask Team Brine
Welcome to Ask Team Brine. It’s an ask blog for my two fan trolls—Maggie Laloca and Veruca Saline—and also a rec blog for Homestuck fanfic.
The basic conceit is that each and every fanfic is a sub-universe of Hussie’s canon one, and many show up in Team Brine’s universe as internet media programs: rom coms, sit coms, dramedies, tales for wrigglers, etc.
Each post will reference one or a few fic(s) I’ve adored, with links to the referenced works in the text versions of the posts below the ‘read-more’ cut. While the structure I’m envisioning is mainly episodic, some plot may sneak in.
Also—Veruca and Maggie are very loosely based on Veruca Salt from Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Maggie Chascarillo from Jaime Hernandez’ half of Love and Rockets. At this point, I’ve just taken a couple of salient traits from each, and the resemblence is so sketchy as to be more of a place-holder stereotype than real characterization. I may make them more ic as the story goes on, or I may develop them into their own people without using the crutch of expies. I dunno.
